Spring, translation, rock’n’roll

The spring has just begun, but news feeds and newspapers are already carrying screaming headlines on alarming events from everywhere. Where to hide from that information flow and how to get distracted from the global anxiety? Judging from our experience, it is not that hard to do. March offers various possibilities, such as: to plunge into work, participate in fascinating projects and celebrate the International Women’s Day, of course! That’s what ladies from Lingvista team have accomplished so far.

Spring is always shy and slow in Siberia. In the beginning of March, it’s still pretty much winter-like, frosty and snowy. However, we decided to remind ourselves that the warmer season is on its way. We chose the frostiest day (unintentionally!) to go to the famous Siberian Botanical Garden. Early spring is a blooming season for beautiful azaleas. It becomes even more magical when you walk among tremendous palm trees and bright flowers brought from far tropical countries, realizing it’s actually 20°C below zero outside the greenhouse. Miracles are all around us; just take a moment to spot them!

In March, we had been getting ready for a big interpretation project in Siberian cities: Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk. However, our partner had to postpone his business trip to Russia due to state of emergency in Italy. We notified our interpreters beforehand, and now everyone is just waiting for the quarantine to end and the business trip to start in a month or two.

In other news, everything is going as planned: We are getting ready to arrange simultaneous interpretation at an international event held in Sochi this summer, sending our leading project manager to perform at a translation forum held in Novosibirsk in April, and solve all the current tasks. For example:

  • Translating and notarizing personal documents, language pair Romanian > Russian;
  • Holding on-the-job trainings for students of Tomsk State University;
  • Video subtitles editing;
  • Selecting a team of young translators for a potential translation project with big volumes;
  • Finding new ways to tell about crazy on-tour adventures of Bon Jovi by choosing right words and putting it gently.

For several years, we have been working with Bon Jovi Russia fan-club, and these guys always manage to find new exclusive articles which we love to translate. This time, we dealt with scanned pages from a British men's magazine with no lack of strong words. Just try to put it more formal in your native language (for us it was Russian, obviously) without losing that sense of rock-n-roll madness. We promise you an unforgettable translation experience! Whatever happens, great new experience is what really matters.
